In the adult world appearances are important, especially if you work in fields such as hospitality or business.

And so, if you have misaligned teeth, having this issue corrected discreetly is something that most adults will want. Ergo, there are very few adults in the business world or working customer facing who are overly eager to undertake treatment with a fitted or metal brace if possible.

And this is where an aligner or invisible braces comes into the equation of solving both the issue of discretion and realignment!

At Spa Dental, our team is able to offer clear braces Sydney to our patients who are age-appropriate and have a mild to moderate case of dental misalignment. Easy to manage in daily life, these braces have revolutionised adult orthodontic care and we hope if you undertake them, you will experience their benefits too!

But for many people, clear braces Sydney simply sound too good to be true and so we have answered a fair few questions about this treatment at Spa Dental. In the following article, we explore five common queries that we receive from our patients about these aligners.

Are the aligners uncomfortable?

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as comfortable orthodontic care; the clear braces Sydney have a job to do and that job is moving your teeth into a more desirable location in your mouth.

However, they do not rely on pressure or force in the same way as other orthodontic tools and gently push your teeth rather than pull them. So they are often considered more comfortable to wear.

How often do I need to wear them?

To benefit from wearing clear aligners or braces, you need to keep them in your mouth for a minimum of 22 hours per day or as advised by our staff. If you do not wear them as instructed then it can be detrimental to the realignment process and overall the treatment may stop. Or, it may revert and your teeth will move back into their previous positions.

Can anyone benefit from clear aligners?

There is a list of people who may not be able to use or benefit from clear aligners.

If you have a complex case of dental misalignment, then it is unlikely that clear aligners will do much to help. If you need to have molar teeth moved or you require a tooth to be twisted into a correct position, you may be more suitable for metal braces.

Aren’t hey more expensive than regular braces?

In most cases, the use of invisible aligners or invisible braces is cheaper than that of regular braces. This is because they do not require adjusting, they require fewer trips to see our team and you do not need to visit a hygienist to clean underneath them, saving you money.

Will I need to wear a retainer?

When you have finished wearing an orthodontic tool you will need to wear a retainer. This is to ensure that your teeth stay in the position that they are in and do not revert back to their former positions, which can be common if a retainer is not worn.
