Getting veneers at a dentist in Sydney

Porcelain veneers can, as they say, ‘hide a multitude of sins,’ which makes them an ideal option for a quick and semi-permanent fix for your smile, no matter what is wrong with it. A veneer can fix a single tooth or a set of them can give you a complete makeover and depending on your needs there’s a dentist in Sydney to see them for you in order to restore your smile and give you the confidence to go out and live your best life.

Leading reasons people get veneers

Chipped teeth – A chipped tooth is no laughing matter. While chipping a small corner of your teeth off can possibly be fixed with a dental composite, a bigger chip or break may expose the painful part of the tooth or even put the soft tissue in your mouth at risk of getting cut. A single porcelain veneer can be created to match your other teeth exactly and it will cover the chipped tooth perfectly.

Stained teeth – There are whitening procedures that can lift or bleach most tooth stains, but not all, and in these cases, your dentist in Sydney will suggest that you get veneers to cover up the stains instead. Staining can be caused by acidic foods and drink, as well as smoking and chewing tobacco. In some cases, people only have stains on one side of the mouth in which case, only the affected side needs to be covered.

Crooked teeth – While orthodontic corrective treatments are best to fix crooked teeth, there are occasions where this is not possible due to time constraints and people would much rather fix their smile in two appointments rather than a few months. In this case, usually, the social 6 (these are the front 6 teeth that are seen when you smile) are covered by veneers in order to transform your smile into something you can be happy and confident about.

The process

The first visit – At your first appointment, your dentist in Sydney will discuss your teeth goals with you and get a deep understanding of what you expect from a set of veneers. We will also perform an analysis of your smile and take any X-rays, photos and videos that may be needed to create your new teeth.

The test run – Getting veneers is a big change and a permanent one, therefore our cosmetic dentist will create a temporary set of teeth for you to wear for a bit so that you can make the decision on whether or not you want to move forward. This will also give you a better idea of the size, shape, and colour of the teeth you would prefer. Once you have approved the practice teeth we can move onto preparing your teeth for veneers.

New teeth – In order to get new teeth that fit perfectly in your mouth, we will need to grind the real ones into a new shape so that we can fit the veneer to the front of it. This means that your original tooth root remains while only the visible part of the tooth is changed.
