No. Radiation exposure from a single dental X-ray is a tiny fraction of that from a mammogram or a domestic flight, and modern digital radiography uses lower doses than older film X-rays. We only take X-rays when they're genuinely needed, since they're an important diagnostic tool for spotting decay, infection or bone issues that aren't visible to the naked eye.

Regular preventative visits remain the most cost-effective way to keep your teeth and gums healthy. More complex treatment does carry a real cost, but we can tailor a treatment plan to your budget and offer payment arrangements if needed.

In most cases, yes. Teeth support each other, and a gap can cause the remaining teeth to shift, altering your bite. Several missing teeth put more pressure on the rest, which can lead to broken fillings and bite problems over time.

Yes, from the first tooth. A soft cloth or soft baby toothbrush is enough to begin with, and parents should help clean a child's teeth up to around age 7 to make sure it's done properly.

Technique matters more than the toothbrush. Brushing correctly with a manual brush can be just as effective as an electric one. Flossing is just as important as brushing, since trapped food between teeth is a major cause of cavities, gum disease and bad breath.

Treatment usually takes one to three visits. The inflamed or infected pulp is removed from the root canal, which is then cleaned, shaped and sealed to prevent re-infection. With modern anaesthetics, most patients are comfortable during the procedure, and any sensitivity afterwards is usually manageable with standard pain relief.

No, not when used correctly, whitening has been researched for well over a decade and is safe for teeth and gums. Our take-home whitening only needs 20 minutes a day for two weeks, with a top-up every six months. Prolonged, excessive use beyond the recommended routine can affect enamel.

An Oral Health Therapist (also called a Dental Hygienist) conducts oral health assessments and diagnoses oral diseases, cleans teeth and removes plaque, calculus and stains, educates patients on oral hygiene and disease prevention, completes fillings and restorations, and works alongside dentists and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
