Two guards, two jobs
A guard is only as good as its fit, and an off-the-shelf version rarely fits well enough to wear consistently. We build both sports guards and night guards from your own impressions, so they stay put, stay comfortable, and actually get worn.

Sports guards vs night guards
Sports mouthguards protect your teeth, lips and jaw during contact sport, taking an impact that would otherwise land directly on your teeth. Custom-fitted guards stay in place better and interfere less with breathing and speech than an off-the-shelf boil-and-bite version.
Night guards protect against bruxism, the unconscious grinding or clenching many people do in their sleep. Left untreated, grinding wears down enamel, can crack teeth or existing fillings, and often causes jaw pain or headaches. A custom night guard creates a barrier that absorbs this force instead of your teeth.
How it works
From assessment to a fit check at collection, built from your own impressions for a guard you'll actually wear.
Assessment
We check for signs of grinding wear, or discuss the sport and level of contact involved for a sports guard.
Impressions
A precise impression or digital scan of your teeth is taken to build a guard that fits exactly.
Custom Fabrication
Your guard is made to the right thickness and material for its purpose, sports guards and night guards are built differently.
Fit Check
We check comfort, fit and bite alignment at collection, adjusting as needed.
Mouthguard pricing
Custom guard pricing is confirmed at your appointment, and some health funds contribute toward custom guards depending on your level of cover:
- Custom sports mouthguard: confirmed at your consultation

Mouthguards & Night Guards questions? We are glad you asked.
The questions patients ask us most about custom mouthguards.
Off-the-shelf guards fit less precisely, which can affect breathing, speech and how well they actually protect your teeth on impact. A custom guard is built to your bite specifically.
Common signs include waking with jaw soreness or headaches, visibly worn or flattened teeth, or a partner noticing the sound. We can also check for wear patterns at a check-up.
Sports guards typically need replacing yearly, especially for growing teens; night guards can last several years depending on how heavily you grind.
Often yes, or within a short turnaround, depending on the guard type, which we'll confirm at your appointment.
Some funds contribute toward custom guards under general or major dental cover. We'll help you check your specific policy.
