Assessed first, removed only if needed

Wisdom teeth, or third molars, usually arrive between ages 17 and 25, and often without enough room to erupt properly. Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out; ours is a practice that assesses first and only recommends removal when it's the right call, not the default one.

The process

How it works

From assessment and X-ray through to a clear, day-by-day recovery plan.

  1. Assessment & X-ray

We examine your wisdom teeth and take an X-ray to see their position, angle and proximity to nerves before recommending anything.

  2. Treatment Planning

Straightforward cases are typically handled in-practice under local anaesthetic; more complex positioning may be referred to an oral surgeon for specialist care.

  3. The Procedure

Performed under local or, where appropriate, sedation, with your comfort and anxiety levels factored into the plan.

  4. Recovery Guidance

You'll leave with a clear recovery timeline and aftercare instructions, and we'll check in on healing at a follow-up visit.

FAQs

Wisdom Teeth Removal questions? We are glad you asked.

The questions patients ask us most about wisdom teeth.

Most commonly between 17 and 25, when they erupt or begin causing problems, though this varies by individual.

No. If they've erupted fully, are correctly positioned and aren't causing decay, infection or crowding, they can often be left in place and simply monitored.

It's performed under local anaesthetic, or sedation for more anxious patients, so the procedure itself is comfortable. Some discomfort during recovery is normal and manageable with guidance we provide.

Straightforward extractions typically settle within a few days to a week; more complex or surgical cases can take longer, which we'll outline at your assessment.

Only for more complex positioning, impacted teeth close to nerves, for example. We'll tell you plainly at assessment if that applies to you.
