When you are an adult who has gaps in your smile, it can seriously impact how you carry yourself.

You may withdraw from social events, or you may cover your mouth with your hand when you are speaking or, when a photo is being taken, you may not show your teeth at all. In years gone by, the only remedy for missing teeth was the world-famous denture or bridge but as technology has advanced, more dental surgeries around the country can offer oral implants as a permanent replacement for missing teeth.

At Spa Dental, we have been offering dental implants Sydney to our patients for many years now.  We have the expertise and equipment to help ensure that when your oral implant is fitted, it will be comfortable and should last a long time. Perfect!

But many people have concerns about dental implants Sydney, as they may have read online that the process is dangerous or that the implants are prone to falling out or becoming infected. In this article, our team answers 5 of the most common questions that we receive from patients who are about to undertake an oral implant fitting.

Will I need a bone graft?

You may require a bone graft if it is determined via x-ray that you do not have enough jawbone to support an oral implant.

Dental implants Sydney need a healthy, thick and stable jawbone to fuse to and if this is missing, our team may be able to offer you a bone graft which will come from either your chin or your shin to prevent the body from rejecting it.

Aren’t implants really expensive?

You may have read online that oral implants are exceedingly expensive and, depending on how many you have and the prosthetics required, that may seem to be the case.

However, at Spa dental Sydney, we can offer our patients 0% financing so you can spread the cost of your oral implants over several months at a more affordable price.

Who is suitable for them?

To be suitable for oral implants, you need to be over the age of 18, have a healthy amount of jawbone which is stable and also have good overall dental health, which means no decay or gum disease.

If you have decay or gum disease, these issues will need to be resolved before you undertake oral implants.

Some health conditions can complicate the fitting of all implants such as osteoporosis or diabetes. For more information on contraindicated health conditions, talk to our team.

Are they cheaper to get abroad?

Technically, yes, you can have oral implants fitted abroad for cheaper but this is often at a cost to you. This is because the equipment used and the training of the staff is lower and so the result may not be as permanent as it would be if you had it done with our team at Spa Dental.

Does the fitting hurt?

No, the fitting of oral implants does not hurt as our team will use a local anaesthetic when we are performing surgery. Once you are at home afterwards, we recommend taking pain relief such as paracetamol and avoiding ibuprofen or aspirin as these can thin the blood and worsen bruising.
