Here at Spa Dental Sydney, we are proud to have dental implants as one of the treatments that we can offer to our patients. Our highly-qualified team will make sure to take good care of you from start to finish, and deliver you a great dental experience.

You may be wondering what dental implants are, and why you should get them, which is what we will explain here. The implant consists of an implant post which is the foundation of your new tooth, with a crown attached to the top. A crown is a tooth-shaped piece of porcelain that is shaped and coloured to match your other teeth as closely as possible. This really creates the appearance and feeling of a natural tooth, which our patients love!

What are the advantages?

One of the most obvious advantages about getting dental implants is the improved appearance of your smile. Our dentist Sydney understands that it can really knock your confidence when you have gaps in your teeth, and implants can really help with this. The implants will nicely fill in any gaps you may have, whilst still maintaining a natural look.

Another advantage that you can enjoy with this treatment is how long the implants last. With the right care, they can last for 20-25 years, which means not having to worry about dealing with the gaps in your teeth for a long time!

Improved speech is also a great benefit that comes from this treatment, as sometimes when you have gaps in your teeth, it can cause speech impairments such as lisp. This can be uncomfortable and embarrassing, and we would recommend implants to help with it, as it will restore the normal functioning of your mouth.

What is the process?

As with any dental treatment, our dentist Sydney will have a consultation with you, which is a vital part of having a successful experience. During this appointment, we will discuss the treatment with you in detail to make sure you are aware and knowledgeable about the process. We will also examine your teeth and jaw, as well as taking scans to see the bone structure. It is important that you have enough bone left in the area to hold the implant post, as it will be weaker if there isn’t enough there.

During your first surgical appointment with us, we will insert the implant post into the jaw. Local anaesthetic is usually given to help with increasing your comfort during the procedure. Our dentist Sydney will begin by opening up the area to expose the bone. They will then insert the implant post and close the area back up. This will then be left for a few months, which is an important part of the process. During this time, your bone will fuse to the implant post, and create a very strong foundation for the crown. If the area is not fully healed, then it can mean the implant will be weaker, and won’t last as long.

Once the area is healed and the bone has successfully fused to the implant post, you can come back to us for your final surgical appointment. This is when we will attach the crown to the implant post, and you will really see the difference that the implants can make. Disclaimer: All treatment carries risks. Individual consultation is required with one of our practitioners to ensure that the treatment is right for you.
