Daily care of Invisalign: a short guide from our team

invisalign-sydney

When you have finished a consultation with our team, and have been given the go-ahead for invisible braces or aligners you will likely be feeling on top of the world.

Invisible aligners allow you to get the straighter smile that you want without the hassle of metal braces, and will not require tightening or adjusting. They are, as the name suggests, practically invisible, and will allow you to fit the realignment process into your daily life easily.

When you come to see our team, we will advise you on how you use Invisalign Sydney in your daily life, to allow the aligner to work as it was designed to, and to ensure that it will straighten your teeth in as little time as possible.

But what is involved in using Invisalign Sydney every day? Here, our team provides a brief guide on what you will need to do, and how our team will help you to get the most out of this aligner. Enjoy!

22 hours (or more!)

Firstly, our team will usually recommend to our patients that they wear Invisalign Sydney for a minimum of 22 hours a day. Your clinical needs may differ if you have a more severe case of dental misalignment.

You should only take the aligner out when you are eating food or brushing your teeth. And, once you have finished eating, you will need to quickly clean your teeth to remove any debris. This will prevent secondary conditions such as gum disease and tooth decay from occurring.

Cleaning

Following on from this, you will also need to keep the aligners themselves clean. As they are removable and made of plastic, this is quite straightforward.

All you need to do is rinse them under a cold water tap to remove any food or other debris. If there are stains, you can gently scrub them off using a soft-bristled toothbrush. There are also rinses and washes available with this brand of aligners, so you can keep them tasting minty fresh too.

Carrying

You will need to carry the aligners in the carry cases that will be provided to you by our team. This will prevent them from becoming damaged when you are at work or school and will keep them at a stable temperature to prevent warping.

You should not simply toss the aligners in your bag or pocket, as this can cause them to become twisted and unusable.

Recording progress

This is more of a weekly process than a daily one, but you will need to send our team photos of your smile using the associated app that comes with this aligner. This will help us to assess your progress, and provide tips to you on how to get the most out of the aligner if needed.

Tracking

There are several accessories that you can use with this aligner, such as instruments known as chewies. These are rubber foam cylinders which help with the tracking, or fitting, of the aligners. That way, you can ensure that the aligners are pressed against your teeth and that they will be able to move your teeth as predicted.

All treatment carries risks. Individual consultation is required with one of our practitioners to ensure that the treatment is right for you.
