When you are an adult or even a teenager, it can be embarrassing having crooked or misaligned teeth.

In years gone by, many people only had 2 choices in relation to crooked teeth in adulthood; learn to live with it or ask their dental team about orthodontic braces. For obvious reasons, many people chose to love their smile, as orthodontic braces were not exactly the discreet answer that many people were looking for.

Fast forward to 2021, and there are many braces available to help adults and teenagers get straighter teeth, with the most well known one being Invisalign.

At Spa Dental Sydney, we regularly help our adult and teenage patients get the straighter smile that they want using Invisalign. Our team has helped people across all age groups and walks of life experience the benefits that this invisible brace can offer and with the range of misalignments it can treat expanding, it is easier than ever before to straighten even the most complex cases.

But can Invisalign help you get the smile you want? Our team at Spa Dental Sydney provides the following guide to what this brace can treat.

Misalignments

While quite a vague description, a misalignment is essentially when your teeth do not look straight.

This can be caused by genetic issues with your teeth, a small mouth or may even be due to a previous dental extraction. Either way, our team at Spa Dental Sydney can help you correct such issues with Invisalign; the tight plastic aligner gently moves the teeth into their new positions gradually, reducing discomfort and eliminating the need for tightening.

Protrusions

Do you have a single tooth that is out of line?

If so, the invisible custom-fitted aligner can help. Our team will create a series of aligners to gradually push any protruding teeth back into alignment, once again without the need for metal brackets or wires. However, it is worth noticing that if the protruding tooth requires rotating, then it may be that a clear brace may be more suitable for you, which is usually attached.

Spacing or gaps

Gaps can be caused by teeth being crowded or may be due to your teeth being small.

However, if you have spacing issues caused by overcrowding, we may be able to correct this issue with Invisalign. If it is due to your teeth being too small, we can offer your regular or clear fitted braces to move your teeth with more accuracy.

Overcrowding

If you have teeth that overlap or look cramped, it is possible that you have overcrowding.

Once again, Invisalign can gently push your teeth apart and make them look and feel more symmetrical. Depending on the size of your mouth and the space available, we may have to remove a tooth or teeth to correct overcrowding.

Bite issues

Overbites, underbites and crossbites can be treated by Invisalign, provided that they are not too severe.

For more complex or severe cases of bite realignment, we may need to offer you a regular metal brace.
