Mistruths about clear braces set straight by Spa Dental

Most people in 2022 have heard about the orthodontic aligner Invisalign. Easy to wear and use in adult life, as well as being suitable for the majority of dental patients who have mild to moderate misalignments, Invisalign has helped thousands of people to get the straighter smiles that they want.

But, as the aligner has climbed to the top of the orthodontic favourites list of many patients, it has had many mistruths and myths attached to it. Many people believe that the aligner doesn’t work, or that it is too expensive for most people to afford.

Our team at Spa Dental has been working with clear braces Sydney and Invisalign for many years now and knows all there is to know about this aligner. We pride ourselves on being able to explain the process to our patients, as well as helping them to get the straighter smile that they want and deserve.

So, with that in mind, in this article, we aim to set straight some of the myths that you may have heard about Invisalign or clear braces Sydney, to help you decide whether or not these aligners are right for you.

Most people aren’t suitable for them

For the majority of people who approach our team to undertake clear braces Sydney, this aligner is suitable for them.

It is worth noting that if you have a complex case of dental misalignment or one that involves your molar teeth needing to be moved or rotated, then you will not be a suitable candidate. However, if your misalignment is near the front of your smile and is deemed mild to moderate, then you will be the ideal person to benefit from this aligner.

They take longer than standard braces

This is a bizarre myth and the majority of people who wear Invisalign note that it straightens their teeth in around 3 to 6 months. This may be longer if you have a more complex case of dental misalignment.

Standard braces in adult patients take around 36 months, or 3 years to straighten the teeth, so in comparison, Invisalign is much quicker and more time effective.

They don’t work

Invisalign did not get popular with dental patients by not working!

As mentioned before, if you have a mild to moderate case of dental misalignment, then Invisalign will likely be able to straighten your teeth without issue, provided that you wear it for 22 hours or more per day.

If you feel that your Invisalign aligners are not working as planned, then you need to talk to our team.

They are extremely pricey

Once again, they really aren’t!

Our team can offer our suitable patients financing, which can allow you to pay off the treatment with monthly installments. And, as the aligner takes around 3 to 6 months to work for most people, then you would be paying less than you would if you were undertaking a traditional orthodontic brace.

They are very uncomfortable

There is, unfortunately, no such thing as a completely comfortable orthodontic brace or aligner. The pressure and soreness that you will notice with Invisalign should be manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. If the aligner is creating more discomfort than you are happy with, call our team for an assessment to identify the cause.
